Today, we have watch jewelry boxes, earring jewelry boxes, other types of boxes for jewelry, but years ago, pretty much everything was put into standard jewelry boxes. The array of jewelry boxes can be decked out in a plethora of styles and colors. For her wedding day, my daughter got her bridesmaids jewelry boxes, and one for herself as well. That was just the beginning of what I discovered while surfing the web for gift ideas. All kinds of ideas are on there for weddings in a specific theme, or more standard, old-fashioned types of weddings. My daughter and son in law chose to have a fairy tale themed wedding, with all the trimmings. They pulled it off in stunning fashion, her with long flowing veil and him with his extravagant tuxedo. It was a picturesque wedding. A horse drawn carriage with a driver in classical attire swept the two of them away from the church after the ceremony was over.
At the reception, tulle with tiny white lights was draped in a circle and there were elegant flower vases placed everywhere around the room. The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. The reception tables twinkled even more with the silver tea light dove place card holders she selected. Flower and crystals adorned the small jewelry boxes that each lady at the wedding got as a gift. The men were given little key chains with the well known frog prince as a charm. The personalized jewelry boxes for the bridesmaids had black velvet-lined interiors and were made of wood and sliver-plated. The date of the wedding and name of the happy couple were inscribed in the boxes. The thank you gift my daughter gave the girls was very warmly received. It was a box like I used to have, I had no idea it was a terrific discount jewelry box, it was so expensive looking. The guys all got wine gifts sets with their names engraved on a small plaque. Those were great, one of a kind thank you gifts, in my opinion.
Her wedding cake topper was a really unique little dream castle that really showed off the lovliness of their three tiered wedding cake. She even found a cake knife set that matched up with her storybook theme and champagne flutes to go with it. Many of her decorations and supplies were top of the line, but she came in well below where I had expected on their wedding budget. They were firm about the fact that they did not want us to cover the bills from the wedding even though, as parents of the bride, we made it clear to them that we expected to pay for everything.
I cried as I watched them dance their first dance as husband and wife, it looked as if they were the only ones in the room. It was as if I were watching the real prince and princess in the Cinderella story dancing together. The guys got so rowdy trying to catch the garter, during the garter toss, that they had me laughing to no end. My daughter’s wedding day was as magical as she imagined it would be, and the whole thing was so special. Now they are on a honeymoon she’s always dreamed of. I can hardly wait for them to get back and tell me all about the fantastic sights they saw.

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009Terrific Jewelry Gift Boxes!
Wednesday, May 6th, 2009Getting the products I needed for the ceremony and reception required some thought, but as I turned my attention to getting a present for my bridesmaids, it dawned on me that I had a long ways to go yet. I had a really difficult time finding exactly what I wanted to get for them. A number of favors for reception guests and people who stand up in your wedding are out there on the web. Trying to select just the right one is where it got difficult. There were also a lot of great deals on thank you gifts that I found at a discount. One particular eight-piece set I found saved me a lot of money; it had a pillow for the ring bearer, a basket for the flower girl, a pen and sign-in book for guests, and several other things, all in one. I saved a ton on that. Instead of having to buy each piece separately, I was able to purchase it all together at a great low price.
While looking for the thank you gifts for my bridesmaids, I found a very lovely jewelry box I thought they all might like to have. In fact there were a few nice wedding jewelry boxes that I could choose from. My head was swirling from all of the options out there for thank you presents, and I had to just go work on some other part of the wedding to get my focus back. I still had to get supplies and accessories for the reception even though the wedding ceremony was all but taken care of. I didn’t have my wedding cake topper yet, nor did I have the wedding favors for my friends and family, so that’s where I went next. I opted for a bride and groom salt and pepper shaker set and a bottle opener made to look like doves that had a beautiful chrome finish. The doves were really nice and they came in a very decorative package, so I didn’t have to buy favor boxes for them. The groomsmen all got a Swiss Army Knife type things from my groom, complete with a file and cork screw.
The topper I finally decided on was a bride and groom embracing and it was really quite lovely on top of our wedding cake. I almost picked one out that had embossed silver intials and crystals, but after looking through a whole bunch of possibilities, I went with our mini bride and groom. With all of the rest of it out of the way, it was time to make the call on a present for my bridemaids. They each got leather jewelry boxes, and inside of it was some fantastic wedding jewelry. I chose a beautiful rhinestone bracelet for all of them. It wasn’t over-the-top, even though it might seem that way. I kept some money in my pocket by getting discount wedding jewelry that was very pretty, and there was much selection. In fact I bought my pearl wedding jewelry to go with my wedding gown there too. The quality of the jewelry is top-notch, and the prices are deeply discounted. The girls really loved their thank you gifts and I guess the guys were happy with what my fiance chose for them too.
It turned out to be the best day of my life and we all had such a great time at the reception. My single sister caught the bouquet and my brother in law was the winner at the garter toss. I wonder if this could be the start of something big? If they did get together and someday took the plunge, he would still be my brother in law, but my sister would also be my sister in law too. You never know!
